Position Overview:

The Senior Coordinator, Logistics is responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end process of freight forwarding, ensuring that goods are transported efficiently, safely, and on time. This role involves coordinating with carriers, customs agents, and internal teams to streamline operations, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. The Senior Coordinator will also mentor junior staff and contribute to strategic decisions regarding logistics and supply chain optimization.

Pay Range: $42 - 60K

Key Responsibilities:

  • Freight Management:

    • Coordinate and manage all aspects of international and domestic freight forwarding, including air, ocean, and ground transportation.
    • Select and negotiate with carriers to secure the best rates and services.
    • Ensure timely booking and scheduling of shipments to meet customer and business requirements.
    • Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any delays or issues that arise.
  • Customs Compliance:

    • Ensure all shipments comply with customs regulations and documentation requirements.
    • Work with customs brokers to ensure smooth clearance of goods through customs.
    • Stay updated on changes in trade regulations, tariffs, and duties, and adjust processes accordingly.
  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Prepare and manage all necessary shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, invoices, and certificates of origin.
    • Maintain accurate records of shipments, freight rates, and carrier performance.
    • Generate reports on freight costs, transit times, and carrier performance for management review.
  • Vendor and Customer Relations:

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics service providers.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding shipment status, issues, and inquiries.
    • Handle escalations and troubleshoot complex shipping or logistics issues.
  • Process Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the logistics and supply chain operations.
    • Implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for freight forwarding activities.
    • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the supply chain.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Mentor and provide guidance to junior coordinators and support staff.
    • Assist in training new hires on freight forwarding processes and procedures.
    • Lead team meetings and provide updates on logistics performance and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, INCOTERMS, and customs procedures.
    • Proficiency in logistics management software and MS Office Suite.
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop team members.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with occasional travel to warehouses, ports, or customer sites.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work to manage time-sensitive shipments.
