Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Technician (MT/MLT) - PRN at Aiken Regional's Main Lab

Medical Lab Technologist Provides examination of and test performance on human specimens for the purpose of obtaining information for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients, or for providing information to others who diagnose and treat patients.  This position is responsible for specimen processing, test performance and results reporting under the supervision of a Medical Technologist.

 

 

Duties:

  • Assist the Leads and lab management in projects assigned as appropriate
  • Communicates critical values and delays to customers in timely manner
  • Completes CLIA required annual competencies TIMELY
  • Actively participates and maintains always survey readiness.
  • Perform and reviews PT samples and results required by accreditation and compliance
  • Follows proper QC, calibration procedures and corrective actions appropriately
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new and current lab associates as appropriate.
  • Communicates with lab leadership on concerns affecting lab operations, quality and errors.            
  • Monitors pending workload and communicates effectively as needed
  • Attends staff meetings in person or virtually
  • Assists with specimen processing to include order entry and/or registration.
  • Assists in the evaluation and validation of new instruments or procedures as appropriate
  • Performs and evaluates validity and quality of results based on technical knowledge, training and following SOPs
  • Communicates and handles problems with customers in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Requirements:          

Education requirements:         

2 year Associates Degree in related field in an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program or Bachelor’s degree in related field or training in accredited Medical Technology (MT) program.

           

Work experience requirements:         

Clinical experience under a licensed Pathologist.

New graduates are welcome with clinical rotation training.

           

Required licenses/ certifications/courses      

Registration eligible by ASCP or equivalent Board of Registry.
