Summary
The Staff Accountant II provides various accounting functions including journal entries, account analysis and review. This position assists Department Directors and CFO with yearly budget preparation and assists the Controller with year-end closing audit preparations.
Schedule
Monday through Friday: 8 am - 4:30 pm.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare account analysis for assigned expense accounts on the financial statements at month-end. Review expense account amounts for unusual or incorrectly classified expenses. Compare the current month’s amounts with previous month. Includes documenting reasons for variances and making necessary adjustments via journal entries.
Monthly reconciliation of assigned accounts and review of reconciliations performed by Staff Accountant I as assigned.
Prepare monthly journal entries to record mortgage and equipment loan activity, prepaids and other balance sheet account activity as assigned.
Experience working with the fixed asset process is a plus, including review of work in process, placing items in service, processing disposals and transfers, and recording depreciation.
Experience with property tax filing is a plus.
Assist with annual budget.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
Review work of others as assigned.
Prepare assigned schedules as required for the year-end audit and any other audit support activities as determined by the Controller.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Minimum of 3-4 years of accounting experience required.
Requirements – Skills, Job Knowledge & Abilities
Proficiency and professional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Outlook and have an intermediate Excel skill level. Experience working with Netsuite is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhere to deadlines, handle frequent changes effectively and professionally, follow through on issues in a timely manner, and give excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate professionally at all levels with internal and external business partners.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
