Special Education Educational Technician

Under the supervision of the Principal, the Educational Technician assists the Special Education Teacher by performing a variety of tasks that promote student learning, positive behavioral interventions, and safety. Responsibilities involve working with students with behavioral disabilities, individually and in small groups, to assess performance, reinforce instruction, motivate learning, and assist with classroom management, along with some non-instructional duties.

*ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: *

* *Implements lesson plans and follows schedules created by the Special Education Teacher.*
* *Introduces new learning that is pre-planned in consultation with the Special Education Teacher.*
* *Implements Positive Support Plans (PSPs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs).*
* *Helps maintain order and discipline and assists in managing the behavior of students, including crisis intervention.*
* *Participates in crisis intervention training and utilizes de-escalation techniques and therapeutic interventions, as appropriate.*
* *Collaborates with related service providers, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and social workers.*
* *Monitors students engaged in independent work or similar activities while the teacher is otherwise occupied.*
* *Provides information to assist the teacher in the evaluation of the learning process, behavior management programs, and individual student needs and progress, and recommends appropriate action.*
* *Supervises students between classrooms, during lunch period and recess, and during playground activities; eats lunch with students, and provides physical and instructional assistance, as needed.*
* *Assists in the supervision of students during the loading and unloading of buses.*
* *Attends meetings, professional development, and in-service training, as required.*
* *Maintains FERPA and respects the confidentiality of all student and staff information.*
* *Maintains ethical behavior.*
* *Outside duty may be required.*
* *Performs other duties, as assigned.*

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $23.00 per hour
