Job Description - Assistant Project Manager (3294895) The NIH-funded RECOVER Initiative is a longitudinal study of participants with and without a SARS-CoV2 infection that aims to study the long-term consequences of COVID, known as post-acute sequela of SARS-CoV2 (PASC) or Long COVID. The RECOVER Data Resource Core (DRC) is hiring a project manager who will manage pathobiology and ancillary studies of RECOVER samples collected from adult, pediatric, pregnancy, and autopsy cohorts. The role is to manage communications with study investigators, biostatisticians, staff programmers, operations managers at the DRC, and PASC Biorepository Core (PBC) staff to achieve the following: 1) Coordinate data analysis by investigators and analysts using the RECOVER Gateway@BDC platform to define PASC phenotypes and endotypes, and select cases and controls for pathobiology projects; 2) Facilitate and track all communications with investigators and close on the requirements for their data/sample requests. The manager will work with the DRC i2b2 Data Hub team on developing ontologies for derived variables to be added to the i2b2 Data Hub and RECOVER Gateway@BDC for adult, pregnancy, pediatric, and autopsy cohorts. The manager will also develop tutorials for new users of RECOVER Gateway@BDC regarding data structure, survey data variables, and derived variables to facilitate RECOVER investigators’ use of RECOVER Gateway. The role will require a deep knowledge of RECOVER study design strong organizational skills. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Manage effective communication channels among RECOVER pathobiology and ancillary investigators to facilitate collaboration and information sharing. This includes managing records of all communications with investigators, closing on their requirements, and interfacing with the committees in charge of approving pathobiology and ancillary study requests. 2. Develop educational materials to support the understanding of project goals, methodologies, and relevant concepts. Create user-friendly tutorials that introduce new users to the RECOVER Gateway, covering topics such as data structure, survey data variables, and derived variables. 3. Conduct training sessions for investigators, ensuring their proficiency in using the RECOVER Gateway and associated tools. 4. Coordinate and support data analysis activities conducted by investigators and analysts who will utilize the RECOVER Gateway@BDC platform to define PASC phenotypes and endotypes for research purposes. 5. Assist with selection of cases and controls for pathobiology and ancillary studies, considering the project requirements, objectives, and sample availability. 6. Oversight and support of staff programmers working on coding requests. 7. Critical reads of PBC data output to check for alignment with sample needs descriptions. 8. Facilitate communication and foster effective collaboration between investigators and relevant members of the DRC , PBC, and other collaborating teams. 9. Collaborate with the DRC i2b2 Data Hub team to develop ontologies for derived variables to be incorporated into the i2b2 Data Hub and RECOVER Gateway. 10. Expand the capabilities of the i2b2 Data Hub and RECOVER Gateway to encompass adult, pregnancy, pediatric, and autopsy cohorts. 11. Support RECOVER investigators in utilizing the RECOVER Gateway effectively by providing guidance and assistance. 12. All other duties as assigned. BS required; MS preferred. Background in biology, chemistry, or experimental studies preferred. Knowledge of R a plus but not required. Minimum of 2 years of research experience required. SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: 1. Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 2. Must be able to prioritize and organize work responsibilities to meet deadlines. 3. Must possess integrity to maintain confidentiality. 4. Must demonstrate accuracy in recording data. 5. Must possess strong database management and overall computer skills. 6. Must be able to make independent judgments for the above-mentioned job duties and responsibilities. BS required; MS preferred. Background in biology, chemistry, or experimental studies preferred.
