Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Chief School Business Official (CSBO), the Grants Coordinator is required to apply technical and professional work to administer and manage the District's Federal and State grants. The Grant Specialist ensures timely and appropriate use of grant funds for successful grant implementation.
Essential Functions:
The Grants Coordinator works in collaboration with the district departments and external stakeholders to develop a comprehensive portfolio of grants that furthers and advances the district's strategic goals. The Grant Specialist will also support program evaluation responsibilities associated with grant-funded programs and other programs relevant to district goals and strategies.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Responsibilities:
  • In collaboration with District Administration, assists in locating, writing, and applying for grant proposals with the district vision Provide prompt responses to internal and external customers
  • Regularly check/update expenditure reports, grant applications, and periodic reports on IWAS
  • Monitor grant budgets that are approved on IWAS
  • Monitor grant disbursements on FRIS
  • Research various types of grants available and the criteria to qualify for each
  • Discuss available sources of funding with District Administrators and the Superintendent
  • Compile necessary information for the application process through collaboration with other employees, database research, and other fact-finding actions and meetings
  • Collaborate with administrators to ensure grants are submitted on time and within the application parameters
  • Completes correspondence, forms, or reports required by the grant
  • Creates and maintains master files on grants and paperwork connected to programs funded by grants
  • Other duties as assigned to support the vision of the department and district ?

Provide fiscal equity through collaboration with District Administration to consider the needs of all students before the allocation of resources

Physical Activity : Occasionally lifting, pulling, or pushing during the normal performance of tasks and responsibilities is required. The work requires frequent walking and standing.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperatures, noise, and hazards are relatively nonexistent. A flexible schedule is strongly recommended for this position.
Qualifications:
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, required • School district experience, preferred

Experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of Accounting/Financial Management/Financial Reconciliation experience, required.
  • Knowledge of school district financial management, preferred

Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, people communication, and decision-making skills; attentive to details, and possess the ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of a school district business department or within a similar environment
  • Knowledge of the Illinois Program Accounting Manual (IPAM)
  • Ability to respond to oral and written directions and communicate on all classification and union levels
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimum supervision
  • Maintain confidentiality when necessary
  • Ability to perform open-speaking dialogs, presentations, and meetings
  • Capable of using mathematical calculations and formulas
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Capable to use web-based applications to complete task

Terms of Employment :
Salary is based on market comparisons as determined by the Superintendent and Board of Education.
Twelve-month work year.
Evaluation:
The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Classified Support Staff.
