Overview:

Position Purpose

Responsible for operational execution of contract transportation customer requirements

Owns order receipt, planning and optimization, as well as carrier selection and tender

Executes track & trace functionality for exception loads

Execute spot buy for hot, one off and/or unusual non-contracted lanes

Primary point of contact with customer/carrier interaction and daily tactical communication via phone and email

Route and tender shipments using technology and business processes to ensure maximum value to customers and Landair

Responsible for continuous improvement of productivity, accuracy, and satisfaction of supply chain vendor community and customer locations

Responsible for the effective development, coordination, and presentation of training and development programs

Actively search and monitor all aspects of vendor and customer location involvement to determine appropriate areas of orientation and training opportunity

Responsible for vendor and customer location training and development metrics and overall performance

Responsible for freight claim investigation, compliance, filing with carrier/vendor, and seeing the claim through to success

Responsibilities:
  • Heavy customer/carrier interaction and communication daily via phone and/or email
  • Provide carrier compliance, root cause analysis, and EDI problem resolution
  • Facilitate non-typical or specialized customer requests
  • Provide assistance to new hires in training and on-going operational activities
  • Utilize methods and procedures to achieve process compliance and organization goals
  • Support and maintain standard customer and operational reporting
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to drive continuous improvement at account and operational level
  • Maintain high level of customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Provide data interpretation and cleansing as required
  • Provide support for customer Track & Trace/POD inquiries
  • Resolve and track customer complaints and issues
  • Enter shipment/load information from customers into TMS operating systems as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Management
  • Monitor loads for exception and manage exceptions to closure
  • Work cross-functionally between departments (customer service, planning and execution)
  • Training of carriers/customers on use of Landair web tools
  • Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of Covenant Transport Services.
  • Document, develop, and provide training programs to correct and improve vendor and customer location performance. These training programs can be delivered in a multitude of formats and will be adjusted to better support improvement if improvements are not apparent.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for vendor process, system(s) use, and all performance related items.
  • Serve as facilitator and content delivery medium for all training related issues.
  • Ensure direction and training align to overcome packaging, shipping, transportation, and all other supply chain related deficiencies.
Qualifications:
  • Candidate must possess excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, and have a strong professional presence
  • Good multi-tasking skills, ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills
  • Maintains effective working relationships with peer departments, service providers and customers
  • Solid experience and knowledge of TMS, Load Boards, Excel, Access, Word, Power Point
  • High school diploma/equivalent plus 1 year work experience or accredited internship/cooperative experience required Strong problem solving, sound judgment and good decision making ability
  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, or Business Administration preferred

Covenants compensation philosophys intent is to use a competitive total compensation strategy to determine the current market value of a position while also considering individual factors such as performance in current position, time in seat of current position, experience, level of responsibility/accountability, and longevity with the company. The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.
Pay Range: $35,358.96-$55,464.61
Pay Grade: 5
