Job Summary and Qualifications

Supervises daily activities of trauma program at Swedish Medical Center. These activities include the planning and implementation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines, monitoring care of patients in the hospital, and serving as a clinical resource to staff. Supervises and directs ongoing patient tracking, abstracting, and data entry of trauma service patients into the trauma registry. Supervises the performance improvement program and assists with design and development of performance improvement indicators, identifies trends and events requiring improvement. Develops and monitors department budget, staffing, and operational aspects of the program. Supervises preparation of ongoing statistical and financial reports. Serves as an internal resource for staff in all departments to promote high quality multi-disciplinary trauma care. Assists with the development and involvement of the trauma program in trauma research activities. Responsible for the development, coordination, and management of educational projects that will enhance HealthONE EMS and Swedish Medical Center Trauma Services. These projects shall encompass, but not be limited to, inter and intra-facility, community, and outreach programs relating to EMS and Trauma Services. Responsible for development and coordination of prevention programs, specific outreach educational offerings, development of internal HealthONE trauma education programs, and management and coordination of scheduled conferences. Participates in the business plan and marketing plan for EMS and Trauma including outreach activities. Represents the Swedish Medical Center Trauma Service at national, state, and local trauma meetings. Works collaboratively with the Trauma Medical Director to fulfill the mission of the Trauma Service. Provides reports on all activities to administrative personnel as needed. Holds membership and actively participates in local, regional, and national trauma organizations.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate nursing licensure
  • TNCC and/or ATCN instructor status desired
  • ATLS Coordinator status preferred
  • BSN or Bachelor’s Degree in related field required; Master’s Degree preferred. Must show evidence of educational preparation, with a minimum of 16 hours of trauma related continuing education per year
  •  Five years Emergency Department or Critical Care nursing required. Prior experience as a Trauma Coordinator or equivalent position required. Experience in Quality Assurance desired. Experience in developing and teaching education programs desired.
