Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To direct and coordinate shift personnel to produce company product in a quality, on time and in a safe manner.
  • To ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to by all employees and visitors on their production floor.
  • To ensure manufacturing standards, quality controls and operating procedures are maintained, achieved and adhered to.
  • Investigate and resolve work in process problems. Recommend and implement improvements and/or modifications in operations, equipment utilization and related matters.
  • Ensure employees on the shift are scanning product correctly to avoid inventory variances and component shortages.
  • Ensure that all documents are filled out properly and turned in daily.
  • Address immediately any scrap created at the machine.
  • Escalate to APU Manager more than 10 pieces are scraped. Also, if the machines is going to be down for more than 10 minutes.
  • Ensure that OEE (daily production sheets) are entered daily (including scrap).
  • To report and assist in the resolution of all manufacturing issues, facilities, equipment, materials and / or personnel problems.
  • To ensure effective communications at shift start up and including shift carryovers.
  • Train all employees that are reporting to the shift to established manufacturing and quality standards in a cost-efficient manner. This training must be documented according to Hutchinson's procedure.
  • Reconciles and approves hourly employee timecards in E-Time.
  • Knowledge, enforcement and practice of Hutchinson's Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must have good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with Automation and Production departments, and other plant and office personnel. Attention to detail and accuracy. Must have good computer skills with a working knowledge of automotive manufacturing and supervision in addition to knowledge of quality controls, all manufacturing difficulties, facilities, equipment, and materials.

EDUCATION &/or EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree or equivalent; and three to five years in automotive manufacturing and supervision or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and process several abstract and concrete variables. Must be able to assess reasonableness of the analysis performed.
