Position will be responsible to serve as the engineer of record on both Transmission and Distribution related power and infrastructure Projects. The Position ensures technical portion of projects are executed in-line with KLJ's quality expectations and standards that ultimately deliver on our strategy of providing an exceptional client experience.Apply transmission line design principles and standards to perform and direct engineering tasks as the Engineer of RecordRoutinely perform Design and Modeling of Overhead Facilities in PLS CADD and Industry related softwareSenior level working knowledge of Overhead Line Design related to Structure Design, Sag and Tension, Foundation Design, Routing and Alignment Selection and Coordination with Engineering and Right-of-Way TeamsCoordinate Work Flow and Construction related function to support implementation and completion of constructing new Overhead Transmission and Distribution Projects.Ensure proper Engineering practices and techniques are used by design team or project team by providing direction, review, and supportServe as technical resource/lead on projects or tasks for large scale projectsDemonstrates competency in multiple project phases (planning, design, construction, etc.)Leads design tasks and construction administration/observation activities as a Professional EngineerLead Quality Assurance and Quality Control reviews on large scale multi-discipline projects to ensure compliance with KLJ quality standardsInstruct, train and mentor group membersParticipate in and facilitate meetingsUtilize effective written and oral communicationAssist in Identifying and Establishing new Clients and ProjectsWhat you're responsible forProvide oversight and input to both maintenance related and greenfield Overhead Line Extensions to include Transmission and Distribution Related InfrastructureWork and Interface with Project Manager to develop Project Scoping and Budgets related to Engineering and Structure DesignDesign of Structures to include Round Wood Pole, Laminates, Concrete Poles, and Lattice is the preferred candidateResponsible for overall project and engineering design and criteria related to implementation of specific NESC Codes and other industry related requirementsResponsible to coordinate and design foundations for structures including coordination of Geo-Technical Engineering as necessaryResponsible for providing technical expertise on a wide array of discipline specific projects/project elements including design, specifications, plans, maps, and project execution within the approved schedule and budgetResponsible for the coordination, review and completion of design calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, construction documents and reports as the Engineer of recordResponsible for coordination and communication with engineers, architects, contractorsServe as project or task manager for large scale projects with minimal support as the Engineer of RecordServe as Engineer of Record (EOR), discipline lead, project manager, or client manager and provide overall project oversight to support client relations and quality projects.Provide direction, review, and support to the group by leading projects; assuring proper practices and techniquesProvide input on business development efforts and lead project meetings development with direction from Market teamsMust be proficient in the use of PLS CADD / PLS Pole SoftwareAssist with client relations throughout project phasesConfer with project team members and clients to lead, prepare, and participate in project proposals and interviewsMay serve as technical lead on projects or tasks for large scale projectsWhat you'll needBachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited post-secondary institutionPE (Professional Engineer License) is required with ability to gain licensing in other StatesMust be proficient at the use of PLS CADD / PLS PoleMust have significant experience related to leading and performing the Design of Overhead Related Infrastructure Projects (Transmission and Distribution Facilities)Understanding and working knowledge of Electrical Circuits, Fusing Coordination, and Load Flow is a plusDemonstrated competency with markets, clients and projects of specific service offeringMust have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehiclesPreferences:Post graduate degree with emphasis on structural engineeringProject Management experienceCertifications in identified specializationPrior Engineering Consultant experiencePhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
