Operations Director

Purpose:
The Operations Director in Food Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing the production and operations within a food manufacturing facility, ensuring that all processes comply with FDA, USDA, SQF, BRC standards. This role requires a strategic leader with extensive knowledge of food safety regulations, quality assurance, and operational efficiency.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in operations management, Business Administration, or a related field (master's preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in food manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Extensive knowledge of all applicable regulations and food safety standards.

Additional Requirements

• May require occasional travel to other locations or for supplier visits.
• Must be available for emergency response outside regular working hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Management and Tactical Leadership of all operations' teams.
• Review, revise and implement all operational policies and procedures with personal safety and production efficiencies both maximized.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and high functioning teams collaborating towards common goals.
• Conduct frequent surprise audits and inspections to ensure compliance with all regulations and SOPs.
• Lead, mentor, and develop staff to enhance skills and performance, both professionally and personally.

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure all operations comply with all applicable regulations and standards.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge guidelines and industry best practices for operations and efficiencies.
• Participate in the development of, and direct, the implementation of all food safety programs in the appropriate operations related areas.

Production Oversight

• Manage day-to-day operations in the production facility.
• Develop, Implement and Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and quality measures are consistently exceeded with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Coordinate and manage all operations related schedules to meet business goals on time and under budget.
• Maintain the physical safety and appearance of all buildings and grounds on the premises

Quality and Safety

• Ensure that all employees, equipment, property and products meet all quality and safety standards.
• Review, revise, always implement and enforce all personnel safety protocols.
• Address and resolve any production safety or quality issues promptly.

Supply Chain Management

• Oversee and optimize inventory management, storage and procurement processes.
• Manage logistics and distribution to meet both inbound and outbound demands.

Financial Management

• Develop, Implement and Monitor all operations related budgets and strategic plans.
• Develop, Implement and Monitor all operations related expenses and implement cost-saving measures.
• Collect, Analyze and Interpret operational data to drive maximize operational efficiencies.

KPI Responsibilities

• Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure operational success.
• Analyze KPI data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Implement strategies to achieve and exceed KPI targets.
• Report on KPI performance to senior management and stakeholders.
