Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is Seeking a Senior Level Pediatric Critical Care Physician in Central New Jersey The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking an experienced senior level board certified academic focused pediatric critical care physician to join our team. As part of the RWJBarnabas Health system, members of our Division primarily cover a 20 bed multidisciplinary medical surgical unit at the Bristol Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick and a 4 bed unit which can flex to 10 at the Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center. Our clinical programs include comprehensive general pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, orthopedics, ACS level 2 pediatric trauma, solid organ transplantation, bone marrow transplant, palliative care, pediatric ground and air transport, and extracorporeal support. Members of our group hold leadership positions throughout our health care system. We have a strong clinical research center to support any research endeavor. The department has well-funded basic science and translational research as well. Ours is a well-working, tightly knit division. We seek a new member who values camaraderie and teamwork. Simon Li MD MPH MBA, Division Chief If interested please submit your application to: About Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) The PICU at The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (BMSCH) is a 20-bed, state-of-the-art multidisciplinary inpatient service that provides a full range of services to critically ill and injured children from birth to the age of 21 in a patient and family-centered environment. It is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by highly trained intensive care physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists. It is the only regional PICU with board-certified pediatric intensivists physically on site 24 hours a day to provide immediate care to children with life-threatening, complex medical problems, where every second counts. As the first and only certified pediatric trauma center in New Jersey, the PICU at BMSCH is uniquely equipped to handle all aspects of pediatric traumatic injury, including physical, psychological and emotional issues. Pediatric critical care physicians also serve as medical control for an active Pediatric Transport service, which provides advice and safe transfer via a specialized mobile ICU for children in the tri-state area. The PICU is equipped to care for a full spectrum of illnesses and injury, including diseases of the lungs, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, heart and brain. Severe, life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, heart and lung disease, metabolic disorders, epilepsy, renal failure, and severe traumatic injury are managed by pediatric intensivists in conjunction with pediatric and surgical subspecialists. Children are often cared for in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit after traumatic injuries or following such surgical procedures as kidney transplant, brain tumor removal and major orthopedic surgery. Technologically advanced medical interventions such as high-frequency oscillatory mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy and plasmapheresis are routinely performed.
