States considered: Iowa<br> <br> <b>Role Description</b> <br> <br>Zoetis is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and highly motivated professional to significantly contribute to the efficient manufacture of Poultry vaccines. The candidate will work at the interface of R&D and manufacturing to optimize manufacturing processes at scale. The Senior Associate scientist will work autonomously and/or in small groups executing experiments and report results to multi-disciplinary project teams. The candidate will collaborate extensively with colleagues in our Global Manufacturing Technology and Global Biologics Research groups as well as those on the manufacturing floor. To be successful the candidate will have knowledge in virology, cell culture and/or process development and engineering as well as be an effective communicator and team player. The position is based in Charles City (Iowa, USA) with frequent interactions with Zoetis' R&D headquarters in Kalamazoo (Michigan, USA) as well as other global manufacturing sites. This role is a term position with an intended duration of 1 years.<br> <br> <b>Position Responsibilities</b> <br> <ul> <li>Apply knowledge of biological, analytical, virological and process optimization to improve manufacturing efficiency.</li> <li>Responsible for participation on research project teams with the goal to license animal health Biologics</li> <li>Drive innovation and continuous improvement by conducting laboratory experiments at scales ranging from bench side to commercial quantities.</li> <li>Document experiments in electronic laboratory notebooks and records in accord with scientific protocol and applicable Standard Operating Procedures. Provide summaries and reports to support GMP quality management systems.</li> <li>Assess novel equipment, methods and procedures to improve upon existing techniques. </li></ul> <br> <b>Organizational Relationships</b> <br> <ul> <li>This position supports multiple products in the post-Launch phase.</li> <li>The position is in the Global Manufacturing technology line. The Scientist/Senior Scientist will interact with peers and colleagues working in disciplines that include vaccine research, process development, analytical development, statistics, quality control and those on the manufacturing floor to.</li> <li>Interaction with Regulatory colleagues and Quality assurance colleagues in compliance with GMP and global regulatory guidance.</li></ul> <br> <b>Education and Experience</b> <br> <ul> <li>Minimum: BS in biology, animal science, immunology, vaccinology, bioengineering, or related biotechnology fields with 1-3 years of experience in a relevant field.</li> <li>MS in biology, animal science, immunology, vaccinology, bioengineering, or related biotechnology fields.</li></ul> <ul> <li>Desirable: Experience in the fields of analytical methods, cell culture, virus propagation, molecular biology and vaccine development.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to design, analyze and interpret bio-analytical, assay development, immunology methods, process development, vaccine manufacturing, and vaccine development experiments.</li></ul> <br> <b>Technical Skills Requirements</b> <br> <ul> <li>Required: </li> <li>Excellent organizational and communication abilities (verbal and written English) with demonstrated skill in documentation, scientific writing (protocols, reports, journal articles) and presenting data and study summaries to project teams. Computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.</li> <li>Demonstration of initiative and self-motivation, with passion to work in a collaborative and dynamic multi-disciplinary team environment in a global company and able to prioritize work and work efficiently with limited supervision</li> <li>Experience and knowledge of sterile cell culture procedures.</li> <li>Independent and critical scientific thinking including a willingness to embrace, evaluate, and enable new technologies for the purpose of improving existing capabilities. High attention to detail.</li> <li>Management of lab supplies and operation of equipment autonomously.</li></ul> <ul> <li>Desirable:</li> <li>Experience in viral propagation, veterinary vaccine development, and associated analytical and immunology methods.</li> <li>Experience working in a quality regulated environment (eg.
