Sisecam USA has an opening for a Senior Accountant located in Green River, Wyoming. We are looking for candidates who are ready to take their career to the next level. This visible role will be working with cost of goods manufactured, capital projects, and inventory cost accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance across all Sisecam Wyoming’s soda ash operations.
The Senior Accountant will perform general accounting processes including journal entry preparation and/or approval, account reconciliation preparation and/or approval, and month-end close procedures. Additional responsibilities include providing significant analytical support to plant management relative to the pursuit of their key business objectives, as well as assisting with the formulation of plant budget consisting of raw materials, finished goods, CapEx (fixed assets, construction in progress projects), operating expenses such as State and local taxes, royalties, payroll, utilities, and repair and maintenance.
Deliverables:
Prepare budget schedules and department requests. Assist with allocating annual budget into monthly expense based on headcount, operating plan or historical trends.
Assist with monthly, quarterly and yearly forecasts.
Assist with monthly operations review, analyze results as compared to budget and explain variances.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, practices, and SOX controls through periodic audits. Take a leadership role in documenting and improving accounting policies and procedures.
Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closings. This includes recording journal entries and ensuring accuracy of the general ledger through account reconciliation.
Review and approve accounting work of others in department as assigned.
Serve as strategic business partner with operations and technical leadership; provide accurate, relevant and timely financial information and recommendations, enabling leaders to run their departments more effectively and efficiently.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes while focusing on safety and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
CPA, CMA or Advanced Degree (in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration) required.
Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of accounting experience is required, preferably in a mineral processing, manufacturing or heavy industry.
Minimum 2 years of ‘review and approval’ authority / supervision experience.
Demonstrated understanding of and experience with preparing financial data, reports and statements in accordance with GAAP.
Demonstrated ability to partner with operations leadership, communicate cost and financial information, and make recommendations, enabling operations leaders to run their departments more effectively and efficiently.
Highly organized, diligent, and precise
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Self-starter and excellent problem solver that consistently meets goals
