Job Description
Position Summary and Responsibilities
Teledyne Scientific Company, the central Research Lab of Teledyne Technologies, is a cutting edge R&D organization with more than 60 years of legacy of new technology development and transition. The company has world class laboratories and facilities, and a highly dynamic, multi-disciplinary work environment.
Teledyne Scientific Company has an immediate opening at its Thousand Oaks, CA facility for an entry to mid-level Mechanical Engineer in the Power and Thermal-fluids group. The group is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge technologies in the areas of energy storage systems (battery) and thermal management solutions and systems.
Essential duties :
  • Work with the technical team to understand system requirements and specifications.
  • Perform trade studies and engineering calculations.
  • Design components and build assemblies in SolidWorks and prepare engineering drawings.
  • Build prototype test units.
  • Perform tests, analyze test results, and prepare technical presentations and reports.
Qualifications
Desired skills, experience, and qualities :
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics and ability to apply them to solve problems in the area of energy storage and thermal management.
  • Background in Lithium-ion batteries is desirable.
  • Some experience with commercial CFD tools and thermal/fluids modeling will be a plus.
  • Passion for new technology development and creative thinking
  • Willingness to learn new topics/ subject areas.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with highly dynamic cross-functional project teams.
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Excellent technical judgment, data analysis, and interpretation skills
  • Candidates with higher experience will be considered for a commensurate position.

Education:
B.S. / M.S. in Mechanical/ Aerospace Engineering / Physics with 0 to 5 years of relevant experiences
Citizenship Requirements
Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a U.S. Citizen.
Salary Range:
$60,500.00-$80,850.000
