Scaler - Log Scale Operator

West Fraser's Opelika Sawmill is hiring a Log Scale Operator

This position requires an individual who will perform all jobs within the scale house, a variety of tasks related to the safe and efficient processing of logs into the mill.

We are currently looking for a Scale Operator for our Opelika, AL mill.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Efficiently process log and residual trucks thru scales and ticketing system
• Communicate in a professional manner with wood suppliers, truck drivers, and co-workers
• Perform basic computer functions, i.e. email, Word, Excel, and enter data into database
• Basic mathematical skills including basic arithmetic functions and common units of measurement
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED
• Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environment
• Ability to bend, twist, lift, stand, and walk on uneven ground throughout the duration of the shift
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform all tasks in accordance with West Fraser safety policies and procedures
• Recognize and support our team culture, communicating effectively with all team members
• Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical
• Normal schedule will be Monday through Friday, some Saturdays and overtime required.
