We are seeking a skilled Salesforce Developer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing Salesforce solutions to meet the business needs and strategic goals of our organization. Through collaboration, the Salesforce Developer will provide technical expertise and guidance on leveraging new features into solution development. Currently our institution relies on this platform for a range of critical functions, including student application initiation, application processing, lead generation management, faculty course assignments, faculty payments, student advising, and other university operations. The main goal of this position will be to refine and optimize these processes to meet the dynamic needs of our academic institution. Your expertise and guidance will play a crucial role in driving the overall business strategies for our stakeholders. This position reports directly to the Director of SaaS Systems Support.
This position is based out of the university's home office in Albany, NY with the option of considering remote candidates. Remote employees will have mandatory occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and professional development opportunities. Remote employees are expected to be available during work hours 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Eastern time. The University will supply necessary equipment to perform the essential functions of this job (e.g., Laptop, docking station). Employees are responsible for having a workspace where they can participate in virtual meetings without multiple interruptions and noise.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build Salesforce applications using Apex, Lightning Web Components, and Lightning Aura Framework to support business needs and objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the integration team to design and implement integrations.
  • Provide guidance and expertise on Salesforce architecture to the integration team, while identifying and optimizing prior constructed integrations for enhanced efficiency.
  • Utilize middleware platforms and ETL tools for complex integration scenarios and data transformations.
  • Ensure continuous maintenance and support for all integrations, proactively monitoring their health and addressing issues promptly.
  • Ability to understand and analyze business requirements for integration.
  • Customize Reports and Dashboards.
  • Demonstrated competency in Object-oriented programming and the ability to build and maintain custom objects.
  • Adhere to Salesforce best practices for design patterns of best-of-breed applications.
  • Work in cross functional teams with administrators, business analysts, programmers, and other software engineers in identifying defects, isolating areas for improvement and general debugging.
  • Develop well-structured, maintainable, and easy to understand code and documentation on system configuration and support resources.
  • Serve as a mentor and provide training and guidance to fellow team members and Salesforce users across various units.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer information systems from an accredited college/university
  • 3+ years experience as a Certified Salesforce Platform Developer I
  • Advanced knowledge of Salesforce CRM platforms.
  • Experience developing customer-facing interfaces.
  • Understanding of integration patterns, APIs, middleware, and data synchronization.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce's core objects, data model and security model.
  • Hands on experience with different types of Salesforce connected apps such as Remedyforce, FormAssembly, Conga, SUMO scheduler, SMS text, Marketo, Hyland Connector, Druva, Qlik, and others.
  • Strong understanding of ETL integrations and hands on experience in performing complex data loads.
  • Strong understanding of Release Management.
  • Proficiency in various programming languages.
  • Automated testing framework experience.
  • Knowledge of ITS
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Provide support and assistance to fellow team members.
  • Ability to solve complex and high-level problems and application issues.
  • Lead security reviews to ensure that the business is meeting all best practices.
  • Identify and set appropriate development standards and practices for Salesforce development.
  • Well-versed with the Lightning framework.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines with competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Salesforce Platform Developer II Certification
  • Salesforce Advanced Administrator Certification
  • Knowledge of Salesforce API's and how to integrate with 3rd party tools.
  • Experience with Salesforce Service Cloud, Communities, and EDA model.
  • Higher-Ed experience

The hiring salary range for this position is $100,000.00 - $120,000.00. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting.
