We Currently have an opening for a 2 nd shift Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator at our Walden, NY facility! We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits package including production bonuses and a sign on bonus!

Salary Rate : $65,000

Shift : 2 nd shift Monday through Friday 4pm – 1am

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Conduct initial and recurrent on the job training for production employees demonstrating workplace safety, and best practices on the production floor.
  • Partner with individual departments to determine deliverables, expectations and risks, to include specific training for staff as required.
  • Daily review of Operational Excellence program compliance: Ex. Day by Hour boards, 5S programs, waste tracking documents and other programs as required.
  • Monitoring of Environmental, Health and Safety compliance. Daily monitoring of PPE, housekeeping, chemical container labeling, and general workplace safety regulations.
  • Provide additional or recurrent training as required.
  • Maintains organization of document filing system, binders and electronic spreadsheets for tracking purposes.
  • Assist with training and enforcement of OSHA safety rules in the production area.
  • Assist with proactive identification of EHS hazards and administration of unsafe condition reporting.
  • Assist with the implementation of employee engagement opportunities; answer questions about how to fill out forms and help to identify opportunities to be proactively engaged in safety.
  • Assist with ongoing EHS projects, such as machine guarding improvement, fall protection opportunities, and near-miss reporting etc.
  • Assist in the development of a risk assessment program/ analysis, best practices and standard work documents (5S, A3 analysis).

  • Preferably Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Hands on, and willingness to spend time on the production floor with workers.
  • Knowledge of EHS Management Systems.
  • Well-organized and proficient at reviewing and editing documentation.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail while executing multiple tasks and meet department expectations.
  • Maintain control and confidentiality of information as necessary.
  • Knowledge of safety and health standards, rules, regulations, incident investigation techniques, and a rough understanding of safety culture building skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, with good problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of proactive vs. reactive metrics.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to machine guarding, hazard communication, fall protection, and LOTO.
  • Openness to working varied hours.
  • Must be able to adhere to company policy, safety rules and regulations, and wear PPE.
