Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Grade: A09 - 8HR/Daily
Duty Days: 261 Days
Qualifications:
College hours, high school diploma or GED
EPA certification I and II (required); Universal certification (preferred)
Texas operator's license
Knowledge and skill required to operate and repair all equipment associated with HVAC and low temperature refrigeration maintenance
Two or more years in computer-based energy management and or life safety systems.
Ability to work with engineers, architects, and school district personnel
Texas State Contractors License Type B (preferred); Ability to obtain (required)
Physically able to lift 50 pounds
Ability to comprehend written and verbal English
Primary Purpose:
Inspect and maintain district wide HVAC equipment to provide a quality building environment for students, staff, and community.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assume primary responsibility for the required testing of all smoke and fire dampers in district facilities.
  • Perform preventive maintenance for HVAC equipment.
  • Updates and modifications as necessary to building automation and life safety system programs.
  • Perform repairs and/or new installation as requested on approved work order.
  • Recommend when contracted assistance should be obtained from outside source.
  • Practice all safety regulations related to trade.
  • Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase.
  • Report any safety hazards in a building.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies.
  • Respond to emergency repairs immediately and report problems to HVAC Supervisor.

Equipment Used:
Computer, meters, gages, welding equipment, ladders, hoists, hand and power tools, pipe bender, propane torch light truck or van.
Working Conditions:
Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district wide travel. May be required to work night shift.
