Description & Requirements Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a Research & Information Services Librarian who will be responsible for providing U.S. attorneys, legal support staff, and administrative staff substantive research and related deliverables in a variety of categories including, but not limited to, legal, marketing, business, and competitive intelligence. In addition, the Research & Information Services Librarian provides services that include training and assistance to firm attorneys, legal support staff, and administrative staff on the selection and use of electronic library materials. The Research & Information Services Librarian may also be required to manage and maintain physical resources, as necessary. This position can be fully remote, hybrid, or full-time in-office.

This role can work remotely out of the following states: CA, CO, DE, GA, MA, MD, NC, NY, SC, TN, TX, VA, or Washington, D.C.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Conduct research for U.S. attorneys, legal support staff, and administrative staff using online resources comprising legal, business, and practice-related databases.
  • Provide research services support assisting U.S. attorneys, legal support staff, and administrative staff with the selection and use of appropriate research materials.
  • As needed, coordinate access to resources at specialty libraries such as state legislative libraries or local law school libraries.
  • Assist the firm's U.S. business development initiatives by creating and maintaining litigation alerts and evaluating and distributing results to attorneys.
  • Provide research and other inputs to business intelligence and client development teams on projects designed to give senior management information about competitors' or clients' business activities.
  • Work with the Research & Information Services Manager to identify, evaluate, and acquire new research materials.
  • Maintain awareness of current legal and business research materials, techniques, strategies, and resources; build research skills in new areas of the law and new technologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may include: maintaining access to electronic resources, monitoring research task queue, preparing instructional materials, and conducting or coordinating legal information resource training.
REQUIREMENTS :
  • Must have 3+ years of experience conducting research in a legal setting, preferably in a law firm library or legal research center.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in library science or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • A master's degree is not required but considered a plus.
  • Extensive experience with legal research tools such as Westlaw, Lexis, VitalLaw and other platforms is required.
  • Desire to keep skills up to date and relevant and enthusiasm for exploring emerging research platforms.
  • Creative problem-solving ability.
  • Work independently, take initiative, and see projects through to completion.
  • Effectively multi-task and prioritize projects while meeting all appropriate deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism.
  • Willing and eager to help others, share knowledge, and collaborate with attorneys, staff, and other team members.
  • Some flexibility to travel as necessary.


COMPENSATION: $69,800-$95,800 is the estimated national salary range for this role.
