RN, Surgical Services, PRN

Directly responsible for patient care in the Department of Surgical Services, either as a primary care nurse, or with the team members. Will be able to function in all areas of the department. Summary of Duties: + Performs accurate pre-operative assessments on all surgical patients, and makes appropriate plans for the care of those patients. Advises appropriate professional staff (surgeon, anesthesia personnel) when significant conditions warrant additional investigation. + Prepares patients for surgical procedures following established standards of care. Makes ongoing assessments as appropriate. + Performs circulating duties for all specialty services. Performs these duties according to established standards, guidelines, policies and procedures. + Performs duties as a Post Anesthesia nurse according to established standards, guidelines, policies and procedures. + Performs as a scrub nurse when required. Is able to function in the central sterile department, processing instruments and equipment. Performs these duties according to established standards, guidelines, policies and procedures. + Assists the surgeon in the performance of procedures requiring assistance. Performs these duties according to established standards, guidelines, policies and procedures. + Assists the Surgical Supervisor with the correct use, maintenance, charging, and control of supplies and equipment. Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
