Safety Coordinator

  • Intervenes in the case of unsafe activities or operations being carried out by employees within the workplace.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the organization's safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Carries out research with regards to regulatory requirements and best safety practices.
  • Assists leadership in the process of accident investigation/analysis.
  • Responsible for keeping records of safety-related incidents and recommendation/administration of corrective measures.
  • Works hand-in-hand with company leadership to identify safety-related issues and also supervise adherence to safety rules.
  • Will help develop, implement and conduct environmental, health and safety trainings as needed.
  • Performs evaluations and audits of environmental, health and safety policies, methods, and programs.
  • Assigning safety courses within the LMS and auditing for competition accuracy.
  • Perform environmental related activities to help ensure compliance (audits, monitoring, sampling).
  • Assist with any other day-to-day task as needed.

Requirements
  • Must have excellent communication skills to be able to clearly pass information concerning safety and environmental precautions to staff of the company.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Must have coordinating abilities that are of the highest standards.
  • Must be able to display good leadership skills.
  • Must be observant and proactive at all times when it comes to issues related to workplace safety or environmental hazards.
  • Must be willing and able to work as part of a team or even lead a team if the need arises.
  • Must be willing to work off-shift on occasion as needed for training, auditing or investigation purposes.
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or technical training in any safety-related field.
  • Must have the relevant safety certification that is needed for work as a safety coordinator.
  • Must have general knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
