Job Description:
To keep all production and receiving areas clean by cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment, utensils, and the general facility maintaining the areas in accordance with approved quality and sanitation procedures.
Sanitation Lead Responsibilities:
  • Under the direction of Sanitation Supervisor, perform in a lead role, to include leading a team of assigned employees to perform duties typical of sanitation.
  • Utilize chemicals and cleaning agents to clean and sanitize processing area walls, floor, and equipment.
  • Supervise the day-to-day implementation of sanitation protocols and safety measures to achieve company regulations (SSOP, GMP, OSHA, SQF, etc.).
  • Ensure that all team members adhere to safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Monitor team performance, providing feedback and guidance to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee the cleaning and sanitizing of production equipment, floors, walls, and other surfaces within the facility.
  • Perform regular inspections of the facility to identify areas requiring additional cleaning or maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, chemical usage, and sanitation inspections.
  • Prepare and submit reports on sanitation activities, including any issues or areas of concern.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of all sanitation chemicals, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities for improving sanitation processes and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address sanitation-related concerns and improve overall food safety.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the sanitation team, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed.
  • Cover Sanitation manager responsibilities during their absence.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
Sanitation Lead Qualifications:
  • Previous sanitation and/or janitorial experience or familiarity with cleaning manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish required.
  • Knowledge of operation and deployment of sanitation equipment, chemicals, tools, and materials.
  • Reliability and accountability in maintaining process controls and completing projects punctually.
  • Organized with effective time management skills.
  • Proficient communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to Detail is a must.
  • Must be able to work without supervision. Must be able to work under pressure.
  • Actively be up to date and coach team members on safety processes on safe handling of USDA and DOH regulations.
