The Cardiac Cath Lab at Dearborn supports 4 procedural labs and 16
pre
and post-procedure bays. As the referral center for the surrounding communities, we see and treat both elective and emergent patients with cardiac and vascular conditions. Utilizing the most up to date technology and supplies, the lab performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures, while specializing in
high risk
angioplasty with the use of heart support devices. In addition, we specialize in chronic total occlusions and structural heart procedures with in-lab TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement). The lab also performs
numerous
pacemaker implants, generator changes, loop recorder insertions, transesophageal
echo
and cardioversion
procedures.

Scope of Work
The Cath Lab Nurse, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles.
The Cath Lab Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Beaumont policies and procedures. Working within a
multidisplinary
team environment
demonstrates
specialized care within the
cath
lab and across the
cath
lab care continuum (Pre/Intra/Post Lab) while using critical thinking and excellent communication.

Qualifications
Associates in Nursing
Required
Bachelors in Nursing
Required within 5 years
Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination

MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within
90 days
AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
1 year of experience as an RN in the ICU
Preferred
1 year of relevant experience Minimum of one (1) year acute care experience. Required
Critical Care, Cath Lab, or Procedural/OR experience. Preferred
