Job Duties
This position may offer up to a $3,000 sign-on bonus or up to 80 hours of annual leave frontloaded for a highly qualified candidate with a (1) year commitment with VDH - Blue Ridge Health District.
The Blue Ridge Health District seeks the dedication, experience, and expertise of a Certified Nurse Practitioner Sr., to serve the citizens of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson counties along with the City of Charlottesville.
The position performs patient care as a nurse practitioner with limited or no on-site access to a physician for guidance and oversight. Performs physical examinations, orders diagnostic tests, prescribes controlled substances, may directly perform or direct others to perform nursing assessments, may perform lab tests, take measurements, and develop and implement care plans including the administration of medication and case management. Actions performed at this level require licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner by state code.
While based out of the Charlottesville/Albemarle Health Department, the individual may work at other locales, or within our community settings.

Minimum Qualifications
*Licensure as a Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Practitioner in Virginia is required.
*Demonstrated knowledge of nursing practice and health principles, physical examination techniques and findings both normal and pathological, disease states, diagnostic testing and limits of testing, and pharmacology.
*Ability to perform and interpret physical assessments, obtain medical history, perform and/or interpret diagnostic testing, formulate differential diagnoses and plan of care and provide health education to clients.
*Ability to develop patient management plans; excellent clinical judgement with ability to know the limits of practice and when to seek consultation.
*Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with staff, patients and the public; ability to participate in educational and professional programs.
Additional Considerations
*Prior public health or community health with significant clinical experience in prenatal, STI, family planning, pediatrics and family practice preferred.
