The *Senior Accountant *is responsible for ensuring accuracy and protecting the integrity of all accounting data. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including managing AR and AP, cash flow, bank balances, preparation and the support of annual reviews and forecast activities. The Senior Accountant will have contact with senior-level Attorneys and VP of Finance, which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

Responsibilities:
* Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
* Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes.
* Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely completion.
* Oversee the general ledger and ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
* Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
* Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
* Responds to inquiries from the Controller, VP of Finance, and other finance and firm wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.
* Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
* Provide leadership and direction to the team, ensuring that everyone understands organizational goals and objectives.
* Foster a positive and productive work environment.
* Develop and communicate team goals and objectives aligned with the overall organizational strategy.
* Create plans and strategies to achieve goals.
* Make informed decisions based on data, analysis, and a clear understanding of the organization's objectives.
* Ensure that information flows seamlessly within the team and across departments.
* Encourage and support innovative ideas that contribute to organizational improvement.
* Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency.
* Identify and manage potential risks to the team's success.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation.

Requirements:
* *Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Related Field *
* *At least 5yrs of Staff and/or Senior Accountant Experience *
* *Experience with GAAP Based Accounting Principles*, *Economic and Accounting Principles and Practices, the Financial Markets, Banking, and the Analysis and Reporting of Financial Data*
* *Prior Experience in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Applications including Excel*
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
* Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
* Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
