  • Number of Physicians or      APP: ENT- 2 surgeon, 2 APP, 2 Audiologist
  • Patient population (age,      diagnosis, specifics about Clinic): ENT- infant through adult – Ears, nose, and throat issues including audiology
  • Number of Patients seen      at clinic per a day: ENT- varies 15 to 70
  • Department culture and      resources: ENT: busy office with lots of teamwork
  • Frequent nursing      skills/equipment used: ENT: assessment, teaching/education, procedures and scheduling surgeries for patients, injections

                             

  • Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice. Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
  • Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.
  • Provides health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
  • Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students.
  • Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes.
  • Assists in the development of departmental standing orders.
  • Be cognizant of tests ordered and monitor results that are potentially suspicious for abnormality.
  • Telephone triage to include results reports, symptoms-based telephone encounters.
  • Proper cleaning, packaging and sterilization of instruments along with high level disinfecting of scopes.
  • Setting up sterile procedures and assisting with these sterile minor procedures in the office.
  • Specialized surgical nurse teaching instructions provided to each patient scheduled for surgery with instructions specific to the surgery being performed. This is done in person or over the phone.
  • Process lab specimens to send to the lab after the provider collects the specimens.
