Job Specific Working Conditions:
Raleigh has 40 years of continuous history with Young Life. Here is a current summary of our area:
- Young Life in four high schools (Broughton, Garner, Enloe, St David's)
- WyldLife in three middle schools (Martin, Oberlin, St. David's)
- YL and WL ministry at Neighbor 2 Neighbor, a community center in SE Raleigh
- Capernaum
- A mix of college and adult volunteer leaders
- Four current staff: WyldLife Director, 3rd year Staff Associate, part-time mission staff, part-time admin
- Four "sister areas" in Wake County: North Raleigh, Western Wake, Southern Wake, Young Life College
- Involved and dedicated committee who support the staff and raise money for the area
We are looking for an Area Director who is passionate about diving headfirst into his or her direct ministry (actively engaging in all three levels of contact work) and modeling that for our volunteer leaders. While there is certainly room for our area to grow (Raleigh is the third fastest growing "big city" in the U.S.), we want to make sure, first and foremost, that excellent ministry is happening at our current clubs.
Our new Area Director will step into an area with many strengths. We have a long history in our community, dating back to 1983. Our current staff is highly capable and all have multiple years of experience doing Young Life ministry in Raleigh. We have several colleges in our backyard (including NC State University and Meredith College) from which to recruit volunteer leaders. We have a local committee that is deeply rooted, highly involved, and consistently raises the area budget.
A significant piece of the Raleigh Area Director role is recruiting and discipling college volunteer leaders from NC State University and Meredith College. Not only are these college students a valuable resource for our area, but, by inviting them to be Young Life leaders we have the opportunity to help them grow in their faith and learn what it means to give one's life away for the sake of the Gospel. These students leave college with a love for Jesus and a passion for impacting the world for His glory.
