Henderson Engineers is seeking an Operations Director to join their Business Sector. The Business Sector focuses on the building system designs for different types of Business buildings (please see the description below). The Business Operations Director is responsible for the overall direction and administration of all financial and personnel aspects of the sector. The Operations Director leads the development of long-term operational strategies, working closely with the Sector Executive and Board of Directors (BOD) to meet company objectives for the sector. The Operations Director guides sector management on staffing and workload, as well as cooperating across sectors to balance workload and staffing company wide. The Operations Director works cooperatively with other sector and organizational leadership teams to define and mobilize company-wide strategies. This position is heavily matrixed and may include accountabilities to the Chief Operations Officer and/or operations leadership.

Minimum Qualifications for the Role are:

  • Ten (10) or greater years of relevant experience, with a minimum of five (5) years leadership/management experience. (e.g., personnel management, project management, program direction, strategic leadership).
  • History of building strong teams to improve the client experience and drive business results.
  • Extensive operations management experience, industry knowledge, and understanding of diverse business functions and principles.
  • Proven track record of effective resource management and optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional leadership to align efforts and meet organizational goals.

Skills & Duties you will be Responsible for in this role:

OPERATIONS:

  • Defines and cascades accountabilities for implementation of operational strategy appropriate for the business and growth needs of the sector.
  • Develops, monitors, and implements policies and procedures appropriate to the operations of the sector, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and corporate guidelines.
  • Oversees staffing decisions and workload forecasting for the sector.
  • Supervises managers within the Sector.

PROFITABILITY:

  • Develops the annual budget for the sector in cooperation with the sector leadership team, tracks revenue margins and conducts budget reviews to maximize profits.
  • Evaluates sector performance against company objectives, adjusts operations accordingly, and provides reports and presentations on all aspects of sector performance as requested by the sector executive, chief operating officer (coo), and/or other relevant stakeholders.
  • Assists the sector executive in developing the business case in support of financial negotiations on behalf of the sector and the company overall.

  • Ensures effective management of employee relations and personnel matters including all employment actions within the sector.
  • Assumes accountability for training, development, and mentoring of talent; identifies opportunities and gaps in employee development efforts and responds with appropriate action.
  • Demonstrates an organization-wide mindset, cooperating across sector leadership teams to collectively meet company goals.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT/TEAMWORK:

  • Collaborates with Sector Technical and Client Directors to define and implement service models to create a consistent, streamlined client experience and maximize client satisfaction.
