Primary Purpose
The primary responsibilities of this position are to maintain our existing campus population focus on a safe environment and enforce campus policy for the safety and security of the main campus and college property.
Position Duties
Duties include vehicle and foot patrol, securing campus buildings, and assisting students, visitors, and employees. The officer will enforce campus traffic regulations while maintaining a good working relationship with local law enforcement, students, visitors, and college employees. The successful candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. This position requires the applicant to work outside in both cold and heat conditions for extended periods and be able to work a flexible schedule in the evenings, weekends, or at short notice, as needed.
Position Requirements
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. U.S. citizenship or residency is required. Applicants should demonstrate good moral character and temperate habits. Experience is preferred. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Proficiency in MS Office and the capacity to quickly learn new software are required. A valid North Carolina Driver's License and a clean driving record that meets the requirements for insurability under WCC's auto insurance policy are required. If not already certified, candidates must obtain and maintain certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, as well as a National Career Readiness Certificate, are preferred.
If selected for employment, the applicant must submit to a criminal background check and drug screening.
