DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will conduct inquiries into unlawful activities and breaches of Pennsylvania's racing regulations, administrative guidelines, substance abuse, and equine post-race testing. Acting on behalf of the Race Track Manager at the Commission Office, you will gather and organize investigative information, prepare and present testimony, and function as the prosecutor for the Commission during Stewards hearings. Additionally, you will interview applicants with prior arrests, convictions, or racing suspensions from other state racing venues, administer drug and alcohol tests, and collect evidence or samples from applicants throughout the investigation.

You will be responsible for navigating different areas of the racing facility and obtaining authorization for the release of confidential information, such as court documents and assessments pertaining to substance abuse treatment. You will be tasked with the gathering, packaging, and protection of samples from witnesses, performing fingerprinting, taking photographs of applicants, verifying the qualifications of licensees, and examining the criminal histories of applicants. A strong commitment to upholding the integrity of racing is essential, as you will need to conduct comprehensive investigations and validate the credentials of all applicants for the Commission of Racing.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are:
    • 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Tuesday, with a 30-minute lunch
    • 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Wednesday - Friday, with a 30 minute lunch
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • Two years of experience in criminal investigation work and a bachelor's degree; or
    • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
    Additional Requirements:
    • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
    Post Employment Requirement:
    • A Commission Employee License is required for this position or will be obtained once hired.
