Job Summary The Senior Lead Estimator is responsible for generating and managing construction cost estimates, valuation of engineering work, and budgets. They provide estimates, budget control, and studies for projects and potential projects during business development, pre-construction, and construction phases of a project across all scopes, systems, and assemblies.

Job Responsibilities 1

Ensures efficient relationship with suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain competitive pricing information to use in estimating.

Leads the development of schematic cost model estimates utilizing historic benchmarking information and industry experience to develop detailed cost estimate forecasting.

Reviews tender documentation and identifies ambiguities, risks, and key issues to be considered by the tender team.

Prepares sound, consistent data for profitable tendering (estimate of man hours, equipment, subcontractors, and material costs).

Prepares cost reconciliation between two or more estimates and can explain variance cost drivers.

Handles inquiries and provides information related to tendering and estimating.

Job Responsibilities 2

Analyzes drawing, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.

Supports and assists the Estimation Manager in the process of quantity take-offs, both manually and digitally, from tender documents and drawings.

Coordinates with the client on all changes in scope, questions, or clarifications regarding the work during the bidding process.

Conducts site inspection for tender understanding, analysis of conditions, assessment of risk, and identification of activities that may or may not be shown in tender documents.

Reviews budget and project profitability status and goals with supervision and project team as required. Seeks input on corrective measures to continuously improve the identification and accuracy of cost figures.

Liaises with the Engineering Team on the design element of design & construct tenders and providing temporary works support for tenders.

Undertakes comprehensive reviews of Contractor’s estimate submissions, change requests, and bids including pricing clarifications, assumptions, terms, and conditions.

Skills Job Knowledge & Skills:

Knowledge in resources planning, detailed estimate rate calculations, etc. Experience in cost estimating packages such as CCS (Candy) will be a distinctive advantage. Knowledge in MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, QS related Software & Web search. Knowledge of local material rate, labor gang productivities, and awareness of techniques, procedures, methods, and the nature of applicable construction systems across all settings and Project Management. Understanding of policies and compliance with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics. ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills, are a requirement to be successful in this role.

Education Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering. Professional degree in MMUP Engineer Registration (UPDA) related course.
