Registered Nurse, Med/Surg, 7P-7A


Minden Medical Center of Minden, LA is seeking to hire a Registered Nurse (RN) full-time from 7P-7A to provide exceptional patient care in our Med/Surg department.

As a Med/Surg RN you will be responsible for assessing, implementing, and evaluating care for various patients within our facility. You will report directly to the Med/Surg Nurse Manager. This position works in conjunction with other members of nursing service, ancillary services, physicians, patients, and families. It collaborates with various members of our healthcare team to ensure quality of care across the continuum and requires the ability to be self-directed and quality focused. Interpersonal communication skills are a necessary function of this position.

Hours of Position:

Full-time 36/48 rotation, 36 hours on the 1st week of the rotation and 48 hours on the 2nd week of the rotation; Nights, 7P-7A

Department Summary:

Our Med/Surg Unit is an 18 bed unit located on the 3rd floor of our hospital.

The environment on our unit is fast-paced, caring, and compassionate.

We care for a variety of patients who are being treated for CHF, COPD, Pneumonia, Dialysis, pediatric illnesses, RSV, Asthma, and dehydration. We also treat patients with more specialized conditions such as cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology and hematology/oncology.

Our patients are unique because they have a wide variety of diagnoses, each needing specialized care.

One of the perks of working on our Med/Surg Unit is the amazing teamwork shown by all staff members. Our nurses are successful because they have the knowledge, kindness, and desire to make a difference. We orient new nurses to our unit by placing them with a preceptor and tailoring their orientation to their individual needs.


Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.

• Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.

• Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.

• Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current RN licensure with the Louisiana State Board of Nursing required.
  • One year Medical/Surgical experience preferred;
  • BLS through the American Heart Association Required;
  • ACLS, PALS and CPI recommended within the first 90 days;
  • All Med-Surg staff will be required to float between the Med/Surg floors and to other departments as needed.
