EMT/Paramedic

Works under the supervision and the medical direction of the Urgent Care Physician. Is responsible for providing assistance to the urgent care physicians the delivery of patient care to include invasive and non-invasive procedures: EKG's, IVs, phlebotomy. In addition, must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served in assigned department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Must also possess the ability to collect data reflective of the patient's status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs as described in the departmental policy and procedural guide.
Qualifications

  • Education: Successful completion of Paramedic or EMT-I Training Course. Equivalent training and experience will be acceptable in lieu of this training course (see Certification & Licensure section). High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: One year of field experience preferred but not required.
  • License/Certifications: Virginia or National Registry EMT-I (Intermediate) or EMT-P (Paramedic), or EMT-A (Advanced) required. Current CPR certification required. Equivalent military experience may be acceptable in lieu of EMT certification (e.g., military experience as a medical technician or corpsmen).
  • Must have the ability to work as a team with coworkers and providers.
