The Washington DC, VA Medical Center is searching for a full time highly motivated Board Certified/Board Eligible Physician with Occupational Health experience. 

The Chief of Occupational Health duties include; Pre-employment physicals, evaluation and treatment of work related injuries/illness, and Fit for Duty evaluations.  The Chief of OH will chair the Occupational Health Committee and will be involved with the development of occupational health policies and procedures.  The Chief of OH is responsible for maintenance of Employee surveillance and infectious disease prevention programs.

The Chief of OH is responsible for the overall functioning, supervision, and clinical operation of the Occupational/Employee Health Section program at the Washington DC VA Medical Center.  They are also responsible for maintaining professional, technical, and administrative knowledge, competencies, and skills pertaining to this position. The individual in this position will also function in a clinical role providing appropriate care for employees in Occupational Health.

Duties include but may not be limited to the following:

Administrative:

  • Maintains Medical Center Policy and Procedures for Occupational/Employee Health Program
  • Participates in Medical Center committees and administrative assignments
  • Represents Occupational/Employee Health Program in interaction with other services and programs
  • Provides adequate professional supervision and direction of Occupational/Employee Health Services Staff
  • Provides for efficient, cost effective operation of the Occupational/Employee Health Services program

Clinical:

  • Responsible for the performance of clinical duties within the scope of the Occupational/Employee Health Services program on a regularly scheduled basis

Educational:

  • Ensures appropriate supervision is established for Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, and all other occupational health reports.
  • Maintains clinical and administrative competencies.

Research and Development:

  • Conducts clinical investigations to improve patient care

Work Hours:  8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday with no call

Salary Range : $240k+ per year

Selected candidate may be eligible for student loan repayment through the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Participation is based on funds availability.
