JOB DESCRIPTION

• The Surgical Technician, under the guidance of the Registered Nurse, is responsible for the care and safety of surgical patients who come under his/her care.
• The Surgical Technician is responsible for assisting the physician with the preparation of and the technical aspects of the role of the scrub person during surgical procedures.
• Performs routine technical and various other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• National Institutes of Health (NIH)
• Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
• Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• Completion of a fully accredited Certification Surgical Tech program
• Minimum two years Surgical Tech experience
• Active unencumbered Surgical Tech Georgia state license
• High School Graduate or equivalent education.
• Certification by an entity accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies required (must be obtained within 12 months of completing the training program).

• Participates in relevant continuing education programs.
• Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.

• A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
• Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.s
