Position Title : Safety Specialist - US Branches and Fabrication

Location (Facility ): Justin TX

Reports to (Position Title) : Global Safety Manager

Position Scope:

The incumbent is responsible for implementing and monitoring all industrial health and safety plans, programs and policies across multiple US branches and fabrication facilities. Will ensure compliance to all local, state, and federal H&S regulations. The incumbent will also develop, implement, and monitor all strategies, policies and programs that drive continuous and sustainable improvement across the industrial health and safety disciplines. The ability to improve employee safety awareness and behaviors is a critical requirement for this position.

The incumbent must be hands on and comfortable with frequent travel. Experience in injury case management, developing effective H&S Management Systems and hazardous conditions identification, elimination, and control is essential. Interacting with plant/facility management is a critical element of this position.

Would prefer the role to be based out of Atlanta, Kansas City or Justin TX but will consider other locations (including remote) for the right candidate.

Responsibilities :

  • Improves the effectiveness and execution of all safety and industrial health programs and processes through performance metrics established by the organization. Conducts annual H&S inspections at each activity to measure continuous improvement, identify hazards and improvement opportunities. Supports the Facility Excellence (FEM) Program.
  • Ensures proper permitting, licensing, certification, and compliance to all local, state, federal and industrial health and safety regulations. Develops and implements H&S programs where applicable. Establishes relationships with local, state, and federal agencies in keeping informed of changes and trends in regulations.
  • Will work closely with facility leaders and designated safety champions in the execution and attainment of corporate H&S plans, programs, policies, and strategies.
  • Directs and is proactively hands-on involved in driving safety awareness and employee behaviors toward world class levels. Executes measures and monitors the overall safety and industrial health performance and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Supports all US branch and fabrication facilities in the development and execution of established safety programs. Will work with each activity to establish plans and execution strategies for the attainment of established goals.
  • Directs incident investigation programs and monitors investigation effectiveness. Monitors workers compensations claims and is actively involved in claims management.
  • Develops training plans as well as training facilitation (as needed) to improve employee safety awareness and behavior and monitors the effectiveness of all training initiatives.
  • Executes impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce the organization's risk and financial costs.
  • Promotes and raises H&S awareness at all levels of the organization.
  • Develops plans to identify, eliminate and control hazardous conditions which may lead to human injury or property damage.


Qualifications (education, experience, skills, personal attributes):
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years industrial experience in the H&S discipline.
  • BS degree, minimum requirement. Safety, environmental or related degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements at the local, state and federal level is a must. Must be proficient in Workers Compensation and OSHA regulations.
  • Must have strong analytical skills to evaluate facility safety awareness and behaviors. Must be able evaluate performance metrics and establish the necessary plans to drive continuous improvement. Must have the ability to translate goals and objectives into actionable plans.
  • Must be proficient in developing and implementing programs and policies at facilities where none previously existed. Must be successful in managing in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must possess strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Ability to negotiate with various regulatory agencies is a must. Program and project management skills are critical. Confidence in making presentations to senior level managers is a must.


Must be able to manage across multiple distribution and fabrication facilities located throughout the Continental US. Must be comfortable working in a matrix organization.
