Harris Psychiatric Hospital, 130 SC-252, Anderson, SC 29621.As the Registered Nurse, Institutional, working under general supervision, you will plan for and provide nursing care for patients, with responsibility for assessment of nursing needs and the delegation of selected assignments for care to non-licensed nursing personnel. You will apply a higher level of knowledge in age-specific criteria and interventions appropriate for effective and therapeutic interaction with adult psychiatric patients across lifespan including those who have diverse backgrounds, disabilities, and co-occurring disorders. Relieve Nurse Managers as appropriate; may work as a Charge Nurse when a Permanent Charge Nurse not available.Responsibilities for this Registered Nurse, Institutional include but are not limited to:Provides direct care to adult psychiatric patients including those who are deaf and have co-occurring disorders utilizing age specific interventions. Identifies obvious symptoms of physical and emotional illnesses through observation and record analysis. Must be able to stoop, bend, lift, and move quickly.Performs on-going nursing assessment and participates in Treatment Team planning to include employing interventions and evaluating outcomes. Conducts patient education and participates in discharge planning.Accurately documents assessments, interventions and education in patients' medical record in real time. Communicates findings as appropriate with interdisciplinary team.Performs medication administration utilizing closed loop style and monitors process in order to evaluate compliance, deviation from normal conditions, effectiveness and completion of medication new licensed staff to unit and serves as resource to other disciplines and subordinate nursing staff regarding medical issues.Assists in auditing clinical records to evaluate professional practice standards and quality of care. Reports adverse events, unusual occurrences, and medication variances in an accurate and timely manner.Relieves Nurse Manager Il and Nurse Manager I as is clinical competency by attending and qualifying in all non-mandatory (15 hours) and mandatory training classes yearly (e.g. MAPS, CPR, SCEIS, cross training, and age specific criteria). Minimum and Additional RequirementsGraduation from an accredited school of nursing. Licensure as a registered nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.Preferred Qualifications A bachelor's degree in nursing and one (1) year experience; or a three (3) year diploma and one (1) year experience; or an associate degree in nursing and one (1) year clinical experience.Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Additional Comments The selected candidate must have the ability to plan and manage the nursing care of a group of patients in a hospital setting. The ability to work well with other disciplines. Communicate both verbally and in writing. Work at an in-patient facility serving mentally ill adults. Able to stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, bend and lift up to fifty (50) pounds. Ability to tolerate noise level and circulate in patient areas for long periods. Must be able to work with repetitive unusual patient behaviors.
