Job Description Oversee the electrical initiative in all phases of manufacturing including planning and performing a wide range of electrical duties to install, repair and maintain a variety of plant electrical and electronic systems in accordance with the current MA amended National Electrical Code (NFPA70) and OSHA regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following:

1. Work from prints, specifications, drawings, manufacturer's information, written or verbal instructions. Use a wide variety of electrical test equipment, as well as portable hand tools, drills, saws, conduit benders, threaders, soldering, and other similar type equipment.

2. Maintain a thorough electrical system marking and labeling strategy according to NEC and OSHA regulations.

3. Design, plan and install raceways, cables, junction boxes; anchor conduits and boxes; pull wire, make connections, joints and terminations; install devices such as switches, receptacles, lights, etc. Troubleshoot electrical systems including DC drives, variable frequency drives, and associated components. Extend branch circuits, install and wire transformers, relays, panels, motors, similar equipment. Work from load side of switch gear mains, buss duct and main feeders. Work with voltages up to and including 600 volts and motors up to 1100 hp.

4. Perform trouble shooting, repair and maintenance duties on electrical equipment, machinery and PLC networks. Check for short or open circuits, burned out components such as fuses, relays, printed circuit boards, etc. Pull and replace motors, switches, relays, etc. The ability to install and program Programmable Logic Controllers is a plus/preferred.

5. Specify and order (complete purchase orders) needed materials, tools and supplies. Maintain inventory of items, records and counts. Maintain minimum critical component inventory.

6. Coordinate electrical work performed by outside contractors.

7. Analyze manufacturing problems or areas for improvement, propose electromechanical or electropneumatic re-engineering solutions and follow through to completion. Share knowledge and expertise with other team members.

8. Design, purchase required materials, and build a variety of manufacturing devices. Complete and maintain electrical diagrams and documentation on custom built/custom wired machinery.

9. Detect and report defective and unsafe equipment and materials as well as unusual situations to supervisor. Observe and obey all safety rules, practices and procedures. Wear and employ all required safety equipment and devices. Maintain work area and equipment in a neat and orderly manner.

10. Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of the job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires current Massachusetts Journeyman's License.

Minimum 3-5 years of experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
