Mechanical Estimator

Our Client, a well-respected mechanical contractor in the area, is seeking a

Mechanical Estimator

to prepare detailed mechanical estimates. The individual must be familiar with Heavy Industrial Construction to include Manufacturing, Waste Water, Water Treatment and Process Piping.

The right candidate will be familiar with all piping systems and able to prepare final estimates based on Engineer provided plans and specifications. Design-build experience is a plus.

Mechanical Estimator Responsibilities:

• Responsible for utilizing computerized estimating system, database, labor factors, and updates

• Market evaluation and maintain project bid schedule

• Plan takeoff

• Bid setup

• Solicit subcontractors and suppliers

• Develop a pre-bid plan and schedule

• Bid projects with accurate budgets

• Quotation evaluation

• Bid document requirements and acknowledgements

• Develop a plan and proposal for design build or private work

• DBE goal evaluation and documentation

• Maintain historical unit cost and production rates

• Track and analyze competition and market pricing

• Work with Business Development regarding private work

• Work with Project Superintendent and Project Manager regarding change orders

• Other duties that may be assigned

Mechanical Estimator Requirements:

• 4 year degree or industry experience equivalent

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in industry

• Ability to read plans, cross sections, standards and specifications

• Public works knowledge

• DBE program knowledge
