Surgery Technician Lead 1.0 FTE

Position Summary:
Under minimum supervision, assists the leadership of Surgical Services by preparing, maintaining, and anticipating instrument and procedural needs for all surgical procedures. The lead surgical technologist will assist in the orientation and continuing education of all technical staff in the perioperative area. They will be responsible for participating in and leading departmental and organizational education opportunities. This role is responsible for the development and/or implementation of training guides and standard work documents for technical staff and takes an active role in the review/revision and implementation of all policies and procedures of the surgical department.
Typical Schedule:
Day shift; Flexed start times between , Monday thru Friday. Call obligation of 1 day per week and every 4th weekend. Holidays are covered by call.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum 5 years varied operating room scrubbing experience, with extensive orthopedic experience, preferably in the ambulatory surgery setting.
  • Full command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Full understanding of current ANSI/AAMI standards either by certification in Centralized Reprocessing within six (6) moths of hire or holds a certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST).
Preferred:
  • Graduate of Surgical Technologist program or comparable operating room training and/or minimum of 2 years varied operating room scrubbing experience, preferably with orthopedic experience and ambulatory surgery experience.
  • National board certification
Responsibilities include:
  • Assist the Leadership of Surgical Services in procurement of equipment required for daily operations.
  • Maintains sterilization documents as required for quality indicators.
  • Coordinates with leadership on the orientation of technical staff.
  • Participates in ongoing evaluation of technical staff providing input to appropriate leadership for probationary and annual evaluations.
