Overview:
The Beverage Manager is responsible for coordination and direction of the hotel beverage operation, to include high volume bar/lounge, while maintaining a profitable department and high quality products and service levels. He/she is expected to market ideas to promote business; reduce employee turnover; maintain revenue and payroll budgets; and meet budgeted productivity while keeping quality consistently high.
Responsibilities:- Manage all beverage personnel.
- Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner.
- Assist in preparing the beverage budget and monitor department performance with respect to the same.
- Monitor industry trends, take appropriate action to maintain competitive and profitable operations.
- Keep Hotel Manager fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention.
- Coordinate and monitor all phases of Loss Prevention in the beverage department.
- Organize and conduct department meetings on a regular basis.
- Monitor quality of service and product.
- Ensure timely purchase of beverage items, within budget allocation.
- Ensure compliance with all local liquor laws, and health and sanitation regulations.
- Attend and/or conduct departmental and hotel training.
- Interview candidates for front of the house beverage positions and follow standards of hiring approvals.
- Be familiar with the function of each department.
- Ensure training of all beverage personnel.
- Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline all beverage personnel.
- Review beverage staffs worked hours for payroll compilation and submit to accounting on a timely basis.
Conduct all annual employee performance appraisals for beverage department
Qualifications:- At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field; or a 2-year college degree and 3 or more years of related experience; or a 4-year college degree and at least 1 year of related experience.
- Supervisory experience required.
