Practice settings may include inpatient hospital based psychiatric units, general medical units, consult/liaison psychiatry, emergency departments, ambulatory care clinics, outpatient clinics and the group practice affiliated with Wayne Health. Services rendered may require in- person, utilize remote telemedicine, and/or require timely telephone response. On-call rotation for a variety of duties is also possible.Job Description:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for providing psychiatric services to patients in a variety of clinical settings including inpatient, outpatient and telemedicine duties.Conduct psychiatric evaluations and medication management services.Conduct patient rounds if assignedPrescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs and treatment to treat mental, emotional or behavioral disorders in accordance with Collaborative Practice Agreements, and the State of MI Nurse Practice Act.Collaborate with Therapists, Social Workers, Case Managers and others to coordinate care for patients as necessary during appointmentsDesign/participate in the creation of individualized treatment plans.Order, evaluate and monitors medical and laboratory diagnostic tests as well as interdisciplinary consults in collaboration with other treating providers.Educate and counsel patient and family on condition, desired results of treatment plans during illness and recovery.Collaborate with guardians or other care givers, such as Group Home StaffMake independent decisions based upon National Standards and protocols in placeActively participate in all entity, agency and departmental educational requirementsPrepare and submit assessments, progress notes as requiredUtilize timely e-prescribing methodologiesReturn calls and e-mails promptly (within 24 hours or sooner if clinically necessary).Respond to patient emergencies in a timely manner and when necessary, remain on-site until relieved of duties by another provider or supervising physician.Administer IM or other medications as all services performed for accurate billing for services in compliance with all federal, state and local supervision and support from attending physicians and submit cases for Quality Review.Prepare Discharge Summaries as assignedMay participate in clinical or experimental research, including analysis of , Licensure/Certification, and Training:Master's or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with a focus in Psychiatric Mental Health NursingRegistered Nurse licensure to practice in State of MichiganGraduation from a state-certified Nurse Practitioner program specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing or post-grad certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing in combination with other Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.Must possess an unrestricted license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the State of Michigan, and an unrestricted DEA registration for each practice possess Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP) issued Controlled Substance licenseNo suspension / exclusion / disbarment from participation in any federal health care programsActive and up to date documentation of collaborating physician years of direct patient care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders, preferred.Current BLS certificationKnowledge of OSHA, MIOSHA, JACHO, CARF and HIPAA regulationsSkills and Abilities Required:Knowledge of patient centered care standards and practicesKnowledge of professional theory, and contemporary practice standardsAbility to work with students and traineesAbility to foster teamworkAbility to work productively and make independent decisions.
