The Role - Property Maintenance Assistant-Grounds

The Property Maintenance Assistant-grounds is responsible for the grounds work and upkeep of GSGCNWI property(s) primarily focused on Camp Juniper Knoll in East Troy, WI. They report to the Property Manager.

This is a full-time role that is benefits eligible. A work week is 37.5 hours. That breaks down to 5 days at 7.5 hours.
 

What you will be doing:

  • Maintain grounds to include mowing, trimming, tree work, landscaping, and other grounds work as assigned.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair grounds equipment such as mowers, side by sides, tractors, weed eaters, chainsaws, log splitters, and other equipment used to maintain facility.
  • Maintain, repair, and replace program equipment to support Girl Scout program at camps.
  • Assist in operation, start up, and tear down of seasonal summer camp equipment such as platform tents, cots, mattresses, and other seasonal assets.
  • Clean, repair, and maintain buildings as needed.
  • Technical repair of property equipment as needed at repair person level.
  • Assist Property Manager in onsite projects as assigned/self-starter and self-motivated.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.


The skills you will use:

  • Requires high school graduation or GED equivalency; or equivalent experience; Technical Certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience and demonstrated track record in maintenance and repair.
  • Physical strength and stamina are essential, as the incumbent must perform manual labor in an outdoor setting under all weather conditions.
  • Specific requirements include:
    • Lift and carry loads of up to 50 pounds for short distances.
    • Walk one mile through a wooded terrain area in 20 minutes or less.
    • Scale a ladder of at least 6 feet in height and work comfortably at that elevation.
    • Operate a riding lawn mower, tractor, wood splitter, and chainsaw.
    • Prior experience with carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Willingness to travel to other GSGCNWI facilities as needed.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and maintenance software system.
