Overview
Responsible, under the direction of the Chief Medical Physicist, for treatment planning, simulations, image fusion, generating various dose-distribution isodose plans, and the calculation of radiation doses as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. Have the treatment plan ready for patient's treatment as prescribed by the radiation oncologist.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for preparing all external beam treatment plans in radiation oncology.
  • Periodically reviews set-up techniques by the therapist to assure that the department is consistent in its approach to administering radiation therapy.
  • Responsible for image fusion studies for physician's viewing.
  • Document and charge treatment planning work for each patient.
  • Prepare treatment parameters in the ARIA "Electronic Management Record" System for patient's treatment.
  • Assist in maintaining Eclipse TPS terminals and all software associated with treatment planning.
  • Assist physicists in directing the technical aspects related to CT simulation and radiation treatment.
  • Assist physicists in reviewing patient's treatment record after the 1st treatment to ensure the treatment was delivered as planned.
  • Assist in fabricating blocks, special protection devices, and immobilization devices as needed.
  • Assist physicists in ordering radioactive materials for radiopharmaceuticals equipment and treatment.
  • Assist the administration of prostate seeds implants and I-131 treatment done by radiation oncologist as necessary.
  • Assist physicist in performing quality assurance measurement for patient's treatment as needed.

  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Current CMD with at least one year experience in dosimetry and at least one year of experience in radiation therapy.
  • Effective leadership and communication (both verbal and written) skills are essential.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English.

WORKING CONDITIONS
M-Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Physical presence onsite is essential. Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range. Able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
