SUMMARY:

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) aids with the nursing care of patients under the supervision and direction of licensed nursing personnel. The PCT is responsible and accountable for completion of tasks as delegated by nursing and for which they have documented competency. Nursing care is provided in accordance with standards of regulatory agencies while upholding Gosnold's values and adhering to established policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Obtain and document vital signs.
  • Complete point-of-care testing and document results under the direction of the nurse after demonstrating competency.
  • Support patients in meeting their individual needs regarding nursing care.
  • Assist with patient's activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Adhere to universal precautions for infection control and to proper procedure for disposal of sharps.
  • Maintain nurse's station neat, free of hazard, and consistent with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Complete in-service training programs.
  • Maintain awareness and working knowledge of all Gosnold procedures relevant to this position.
  • Adhere to the Professional Staff Code of Ethics.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, Experience, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the job.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of healthcare experience preferred.
  • Skills: Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communications. Ability to navigate electronic medical record. Must be able to manipulate medical equipment required to assess vital signs. The PCT will be provided with education regarding skill of assessment.
  • Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Current CPR certification or the ability to be certified within three (3) months of hire.
