The Production Planner is responsible to ensure that resources are configured, used, and scheduled in a manner that achieves optimal production costs and delivery dates.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop build plan(s) for each project in collaboration with various stakeholders, and identify required resources
2. Create and control production schedule(s) that fulfill customer demand
3. Create and control the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) for each project
4. Setup and configure parts in the MRP system to fulfill a ‘Plan For Every Part’, optimizing material and information flow
5. Maintain sufficient levels of work in process (WIP) by triggering demand within the production process(es) at the appropriate time
6. Understand production lead time(s) and capacity
7. Collaborate with various stakeholders to process and implement Engineering and/or manufacturing changes in an efficient, low-cost manner
8. Collaborate with various stakeholders to setup and maintain vendor-managed inventory (VMI)
9. Review jobs to ensure cost and resources are accurately allocated
10. Provide supporting documentation to production personnel, which may include kitting lists, drawing packages, work orders, etc.
11. Identify cost reduction and/or process improvements, and communicate them appropriately
12. Document company information and/or metrics as required
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
• Completion of High School
• 1-5 years’ experience in Manufacturing industry preferred but not required
• CPIM certification or equivalent considered an asset
Specific Skills:
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and terminology relating to fabrication, welding, paint, and/or assembly
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, assembly drawings, and/or material specification sheets
• Medium-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, tables and graphs
• Knowledge of supply chain activities including MRP, material lead times, and/or warehouse functions
• Experience creating or configuring production schedules/forecasts
• High level of organization and problem solving skills with the ability to process a large volume of information
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a variety of groups and departments
• Follow and give oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population
