GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The accountant II is responsible for providing administrative and fiscal support to State 911Department's grant programs. Specifically, this position will be responsible for supporting activities associated with grant processes, to include review of grant documentation for accuracy and compliance, interfacing with Department and public safety answering point staff to address identified deficiencies and validate information provided, assist with review and support of grant activity to ensure compliance with grant guidelines. This position will also provide overall support to the Department's finance division, to include but not limited to maintenance of files, compliance with rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing its operation.

DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supports the review of grant applications to ensure compliance with grant guidelines.
  • Confers with agency personnel and outside agencies by telephone, in writing or in person, to resolve deficiencies and/or obtain documentation needed.
  • Tracking compliance with grant related reporting requirements and address and identify deficiencies.
  • Prepares reports and maintains records to reflect status of grant programs.
  • Reconciles financial documents, records, transactions and statements to ensure conformance with established standards and grant guidelines.
  • Assists in administration of the Department's grant programs and processing of all required reports and documents.
  • Performs related duties such as preparing documents associated with grant processes, attending staff meetings and training sessions, responding to inquiries regarding assigned agency functions; reviewing and/or approving quotes for compliance with grant guidelines; and conferring with others concerning fiscal related matters. Assists with other fiscal duties in support of the overall operations of the Department's finance division.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have (A) two years of full-time or equivalent part-time, general accounting or budgeting experience, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Incumbents may be required to have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Driver's License at a class level specific to assignment.
Substitutions:
I. An Associate's degree with a major in accounting, finance or business may be substituted for one year of the the required experience.
II. A Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, finance or business may be substituted for the required experience.
