Quality Technician - 3rd Shift

Purpose and Scope:

Individuals in this position are part of a team that is responsible for the daily monitoring and verification of adherence to customer specifications. This includes analyzing incoming materials, work in progress, and finished product to ensure all materials meet established quality standards. Use data collection, and testing of coated products to insure optical, cosmetic and physical integrity. Work closely with the team to prevent, detect, communicate and act on product defects.

Expected Outcomes/Job Functions: Responsibilities:

1. Champions daily/shift quality program with the production team.

2. Conduct process observations audits throughout each shift, ensuring that employees are following prescribed procedures to produce consistent, high-quality products. Also ensure processes are running according to documented parameters.

3. Monitor product quality throughout the shift, ensuring that customer requirements and specifications are met. Understand customer's specifications for each product type or job and clearly communicate those to the team. Provide feedback to management on process/product audits and test results.

4. Recognize report and act on any defects or quality issues, providing feedback to Team Supervisor and other team members on quality issues that arise. Provide feedback on quality issues for the MDI boards.

5. Be a certified inspector for all products and train and certify others as inspectors. Audit inspectors regularly to ensure adherence to standards.

6. Work effectively with automated inspection systems, including collecting, monitoring, and analyzing data from the system and making appropriate system adjustments in response to that data.

7. Correctly set up and operate appropriate testing and measurement equipment for cosmetic, optical, and physical properties following established procedures and timelines to ensure product meets Customer Specifications. Check calibrations and troubleshoot this equipment as needed.

8. Conduct quality tests as defined and record and maintain product records data files on the computer and other record keeping formats.

9. Interact and support the Process Technicians and the team in root cause investigation of troubleshooting and quality issues.

10. Assist in investigation and corrective action for customer complaints and resolution process for RMA's.

11. Assist in development of work instructions, training and certifying team members and assisting in special projects.

Education and Experience: (minimum requirements)

1. Demonstrated ability to interact and coach other team members on behaviors that impact product quality.

2. Demonstrated ability to use analytical equipment and computers.

3. Associates degree in technical field desired and/or two years work experience in manufacturing

4. Quality Assurance experiences a plus. ASQ certification desirable.

5. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Quality systems preferred.

8. Ability and willingness to learn and understand all production jobs.

The noise level in the production environment is usually loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration and risk of electric shock. Production Environment includes varying temperatures (heat and cold).
