Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) prepares equipment and assists physician during examinations and treatments. The Registered Nurse (RN) administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors patient vital signs. The Registered Nurse (RN) observes and maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress.
The Registered Nurse (RN) participates as primary nurse, associate nurse, a team member or team leader in the planning and implementing of patient care. The Registered Nurse (RN) directs and assists in carrying out safe aseptic technique and procedures. The Registered Nurse (RN) offers leadership and direction to all support staff within department.
The Medical Surgical Telemetry Pediatrics department at Christus Spohn Alice has a daily average census of approximately 25 patients. We often see patients with CHF, Pneumonia, Skin Abscess, Chest Pain, COPD, Diabetes, Appendicitis, Cholecystectomy, EGD's, Colonoscopy, Pediatrics with Asthma, Bronchitis, Viral Syndrome, and Pneumonia. Our associates feel very proud to work in this department. Med Surg Tele Peds is a unit in which you can develop all of your nursing skills and train to float to other units if desired. MSP requires hard work and critical thinking skills due to range in age of patients and disease processes involved. We are a group of highly skilled nurses that are willing to teach and grow our own nurses to the fullest potential.

Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care. One-year experience in nursing preferred. Current Texas State RN LicenseCPR (American Heart Association)ACLS (American Heart Association) within 6 months of hire/transfer datePALS (American Heart Association) within 18 months of hire/transfer date. NIHSS required within 90 days of hire/transfer date.
